Does anyone know the best way to furnish and decorate an apartment inexpensively?

I have bedroom furniture, but I need living room furniture and a tv. I am not sure how i can decorate without spending a lot, but so it will still look nice. Does anyone have any advice?

What paint color would look good with brown carpet?

My bedroom furniture is white and I prefer to keep the wall colors a light color, please help?
